What People are saying about Perfectly Yours

In the fall of 2005, a sample of Perfectly Yours materials were distributed to a regional and national focus group along with a survey. The goal was to test the materials in the home and in the classroom. A diverse group of children, parents and grandparents were assembled, representing a mix in terms of ages, gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background. The group included a mix of homemakers, educators, lawyers, physicians, business leaders with backgrounds in marketing, development and finance, along with writers, artists and – most important of all – children.

From Maria
(age 7)

“This is a great thing. The book made everyone laugh. I loved making pictures in the book. That was a lot of fun.”

From JT
(49 year-old real estate developer & single parent of one son, 11 years)

“To be perfectly honest, I’m not a crafty kind of guy and neither is my son. But that said, I’m scared to admit that we totally enjoyed reading through it and had a lot of fun with it. I really appreciated the constant message that there is no right or wrong on most activities. Really refreshing for a dad to hear!”

From Janet B.
(65 year-old educator, married with 3 adult children and grandmother of 2 boys: 6 & 3 years.
Teacher for 41 years and early childhood center director for the past 18 years)

“I really like the concept and the products. I think by expanding the series, there is the ability to reach out to children from different socio-economic backgrounds and deal with diversity on many levels. There are many activities where young students might bring along the book and kit, such as a vacation with their family, a supermarket visit and purchase, a picnic in the park, or a favorite movie or restaurant. The activity kit is portable, convenient and a wonderfully child-centered way to make memories. Children love to re-read their own journals and stories, and reflect on child-made pictures. This is an excellent, creative and innovative way to do so.”

From Louise M.
(40 year-old homemaker, formerly worked in marketing & finance.
Married with 3 daughters: 9, 7 & 5 years old)

The overall theme is so important – that families can find plenty of fun and togetherness rather than solely take our children to organized lessons and playtime. I think it’s really healthy to slow down and just spend time together as a family. I thought that the materials make it so much easier for the child to actually complete, and for a caregiver to provide assistance where necessary.  The book was a great way for the kids to be creative, illustrate and describe their experiences in their own words. It was a fun project to do with the girls, and much easier than most art projects. And the concept is more portable and easier to manage than any big, bulky journals or scrapbooks, where I usually end up doing all the work!

From Lauren F.
(24 year-old artist & writer, single with no children)
A wonderful idea, completely original and smart. A really thoughtful idea, there seems to be a niche and this certainly does fill it. I thought the piece was terrific, it had a flow and lilt that was really fun. The narrative and illustrations were clever, the perfect representation of the things a family can do to have fun. The idea has tons of heart in it, tons of fun and integrates activities that invite interaction with another person.”

From Justin
(age 9)

“I loved the kit. We took it to Colorado with us, and I did the pages with my sister on the plane. Then we would color pictures and paste postcards or photos from the places we went. It was a really fun way to remember our trip!”

From Sam H.
(70 year-old attorney, married with 4 adult children and grandfather of 8: 5 boys, ages 16, 12, 8, 5 & 3; and 3 girls, ages 9, 7 & 2)

When you think of a child's view of the world, surely there can be no limits to the imagination parents and their children can put into play. What you have here for children all over has the potential to brighten every day happenings in a child's life, in the parents' interaction with their children, and turn them into golden memories. What a way for parents – and grandparents -- to really bond with their children.”
